I'm Mehrab, the founder of SEO Mode, and I'm writing this page for a simple reason: the name gets described inconsistently around the web. Some listing sites call us a content optimization tool. Others call us a directory submission service. Both were true of us at some point, and neither is what we are now. This is the accurate version, in one place.
What SEO Mode does
We help companies get found, and chosen, when buyers look for a solution. Today that means three things:
- GEO and AEO (Generative and Answer Engine Optimization): Getting a brand mentioned, cited and recommended when people ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI features and similar platforms for a product or provider. This is where most of our attention goes.
- SEO and content strategy: Traditional search still matters, and it feeds AI search too. We plan what to publish, what to fix and what to leave alone, based on what can move revenue.
- Managed link building: Guest posts, niche edits and directory submissions, done as part of a campaign or as standalone services.
The common thread is revenue. A ranking or a mention only counts if it brings in the right customers, so we build strategies around that and measure them that way.
How SEO Mode started
We didn't begin as an agency.
SEO Mode started as a directory submission service for SaaS products. Founders were spending hours listing their products in directories to get traffic and authority, and we did it for them.
Then we built our own SEO software and launched it in private beta for clients. It handled writing optimized content, keyword research, backlink research, technical audits, and most of what someone needs to run an SEO campaign.
It worked as software. But the results kept telling us the same thing, which is why we changed direction.
Why we became an agency: a tool alone wasn't enough
We noticed that giving people a capable tool, even one with AI behind it, wasn't enough to produce a successful campaign.
The most important ingredient turned out to be the experience and taste of an SEO strategist: someone who has built many campaigns, lived through many Google updates, and knows what's actually happening in SEO and GEO right now.
That last part is where AI on its own falls short. SEO and GEO change constantly. But language models are trained periodically, so what they know is either tied to when they were trained, or comes from searching and reading blog posts they can't verify. A blog post is just something someone wrote. It might be right, outdated, or wrong, and a model can't always tell. A strategist who is running live campaigns can test claims against real results.
So we pivoted into a full SEO and GEO agency. We didn't throw the software away. It is now an internal tool that also serves as a dashboard for our agency clients. It isn't sold separately. It makes our strategists faster and gives clients a clear view of their campaigns, and the strategist makes the decisions.
Why GEO became our main focus
From the early days, we saw that the conversion value of GEO looked much higher than that of traditional SEO. People who ask an AI platform for a recommendation are often much closer to a decision than someone browsing search results.
I won't put a single multiplier on that here. It varies by market and product, and I'd rather not invent a number. But it was strong enough that we put most of our focus on GEO and used the tool we'd already built to run campaigns around it.
Timeline
- 2025: SEO Mode starts as a directory submission service for SaaS products, then adds its own SEO software in private beta.
- December 17, 2025: I launched the agency privately and signed our first client, a brand-new SaaS company at roughly $1k in monthly recurring revenue (MRR).
- Four months later: that client had grown from about $1k to about $11k MRR while we ran their SEO and GEO. Results like that depend on the product, the market and the timing, and I wouldn't promise anyone the same curve. But it was the proof that the approach worked.
- April 2026: we launched the agency publicly.
- April 13, 2026: we signed our first public client, one of the largest companies in the child education industry.
- September 2026: we're still working with them.
Who SEO Mode is for
SEO Mode is a good fit for:
- B2B and SaaS companies that want search, including AI search, to become a predictable revenue channel.
- Startups and growing companies that want strategy and execution from the same team.
- Teams that already understand SEO or GEO matters and want experienced people running it.
It's probably not a fit if you want a cheap one-off deliverable, or if rankings alone are your goal without a connection to revenue.
What SEO Mode is not
Because of the confusion online, here is what we are not:
- Not a content optimization tool like Surfer or Clearscope. We had our own software, but it is an internal and client-dashboard tool, not a product you can buy.
- Not only a directory submission service. We still offer directory submissions and never retired them, but they're a small part of what we do, not the focus.
- Not a messaging or customer engagement platform. We don't sell chat, SMS or inbox tools, whatever some directory pages say.
- Not related to Google's AI Mode. The names overlap by coincidence, although helping brands show up in Google's AI features is part of our GEO work.
How to work with SEO Mode
Engagements start with a free audit of where your site and brand stand in search and AI answers today. From there we build a campaign around the opportunities most likely to affect revenue, and clients follow progress in their dashboard.
